Typological standards

The submitted articles must have one of the following typologies:

Research article. A document that provides a detailed presentation of the original results of completed research studies. Manuscripts should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words.

The structure of the article should have at least the following elements:

  1. Title: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  2. Abstract in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  3. Keywords: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  4. Introduction: presents objectives, scope, and originality of the text, may include a broader theoretical development if the topic warrants it.
  5. Methodology: presentation of epistemological, methodological, and ethical issues of the research.
  6. Analysis: descriptive presentation of the results.
  7. Discussion: linkage of the analysis with the current theoretical discussion, considering main findings and differences.
  8. Conclusions: synthesizes results and contributions, and fulfilment of objectives.
  9. References: at least 35 bibliographic sources.

Review article. A document presents the results of a completed research that presents an updated overview of a relevant field of study to identify advances in the area and the main theoretical and methodological trends. Its main feature is a careful bibliographic review with at least 50 references. Manuscripts should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words.

The structure of the article should have the following elements:

  1. Title: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  2. Abstract in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  3. Keywords: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  4. Introduction: presents objectives, scope and originality of the text, should define scope and type of review carried out.
  5. Review Methodology: presentation of epistemological, methodological and ethical issues of the research.
  6. Presentation of Results: it reports the main findings of the review.
  7. Conclusions: it synthesizes results and contributions, and fulfilment of objectives.
  8. References: due to the characteristics of this type of articles, a minimum of 50 references are required.

Essay. Original essays on specific topics, with the objective of presenting the doctrinaire research from an analytical, interpretative or critical perspective. They will be submitted for peer review. Manuscripts should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words.

The structure of the essay should have the following elements:

  1. Title: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  2. Abstract: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  3. Keywords: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  4. Introduction: presents objectives, scope and originality of the text.
  5. Discussion: presents the core of the proposed theoretical discussion.
  6. Conclusions: synthesizes results and contributions of the manuscript.
  7. References: minimum 35 bibliographic sources.

Commentary on jurisprudence. Text that critically analyzes a sentence or ruling issued by a Chilean or foreign court of justice. Its length should not exceed 4,000 words.

The structure of the piece should have the following elements:

  1. Title: in the source language, English and Spanish if applicable. The title should mention the legal institution that is involved in the ruling and the identification data of the sentence.
  2. Abstract in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  3. Keywords: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  4. Introduction: Presentation of the sentence's background, context, and most relevant aspects.
  5. Discussion: Analysis of a sentence and its significance vis-à-vis legal institutions, principles, concepts, and rules of the legal system.
  6. Conclusions: Summary of results and contributions.

Book Review: Commentary and critique of a recent book (no more than three years old). It should not exceed 4,000 words.

The structure of the text must include the following elements:

  1. Title: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable. The review title should include the author, title of the work reviewed, year of publication, language, publisher, place of publication, and page count.
  2. Abstract in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  3. Keywords: in the source language, English, and Spanish if applicable.
  4. Content: Special attention should be paid to the content, objective, potential contributions, and shortcomings of the text.
  5. Overview: Summary the review and offer an overall assessment of the work examined. At the end, the review's author should include their full name, academic degree or professional title, institutional affiliation, e-mail and ORCID.

Collaborations: The text is a concise and informative document intended for the scientific and academic community. For instance, It can be a report on a conference or a congress, and it should not exceed 8,000 words.

The structure of the text must include the following elements:

  2. Content: As this is a miscellaneous section, its content and structure may vary.
